Fear and Fantasy
After a long career in microbiological research and more than twenty-five years with the NHS, I’m now semi-retired and pursuing my lifelong passion for writing. Under the pen name T.S. James, I craft stories that span the dark and the delightful, from the haunting corridors of Ravenswood and the supernatural vengeance of the Old West in An Eye for Vengeance, to the humour and heart of The Ghost Who Wouldn’t Leave, the epic fantasy adventure Shamera, and the seasonal warmth of A Christmas to Remember.
Much of my inspiration and creative direction is shared with my friend, collaborator and manuscript editor Martin D. Smith, whose ideas, insights, and sharp editorial touch have helped shape each story into something truly memorable.
Encouraged always by my wife Linda, and accompanied by our faithful dog Millie, I find peace and inspiration by the water’s edge, fishing and letting new worlds take form in the stillness. My years of studying Karate taught me discipline and focus, qualities that now guide every page I write.
With readers across the UK, USA, Germany, and Italy, I continue to explore horror, fantasy, and romantic comedy with the same goal: to tell stories that linger in the mind and move the heart long after the final chapter ends.
The Art of Storytelling
From the author’s perspective
Storytelling, to me, is far more than simply writing words on a page. It’s the craft of creating worlds so real, so alive, that readers lose themselves within them. The Art of Storytelling is a reflection of my journey, from the first spark of an idea to the finished novel, shaped through years of learning, writing, and growing as an author.
In my co-authored work, particularly in our horror novels, we’ve chosen to honour the golden age of storytelling, a time when atmosphere, imagination, and suspense held the power to truly captivate. There are no swear-words in any of our horror books. Instead, we focus on the strength of descriptive language and inventive writing to build tension, stir emotion, and leave a lasting impression.
These stories are written for readers who long for the kind of books that stay with them, lingering long after the final page is turned.
